Canadian‑Indian songwriter, producer, and multi‑instrumentalist Raj Ramayya today unveils The Journey, a culturally rich, five‑track EP that doubles as a heartfelt homage to his late father, Dr. Ray Ramayya—one of Canada’s first South‑Asian filmmakers and a trailblazing immigrant voice in national media.
Inspired by Dr. Ramayya’s remarkable journey from India to Canada in the 1960s—with only ten dollars to his name—The EP’s previous single Man From Hindustan surpasses 1,500 Spotify streams and 30 K+ YouTube views.
The Journey serves as both a personal reflection and a universal story of resilience, transformation, and cultural identity. The EP is also part of the official soundtrack for the Gemini Award-winning documentary Cosmic Current, directed by Raj’s brother Anand Ramayya, which chronicles their father’s life and his contributions to Canadian media and immigrant storytelling.
