Resurgence will be Total Gipsy’s second album. Her first opus, Digital & Analogue, a collection of tips to become an adult, saw the day in November 2019 and made it at #3 in the iTunes Top 200 (All Genres) upon release, ahead of Frozen 2 and right behind Roxette and Michael Bublé. The album flirted with the top charts until early 2020.
Having always put forward the lost innocence of adolescence, the duality between highs and lows strongly defines Total Gipsy. Her second album makes no exception. It’s a journey that opened her eyes to so many illusions, thus leading to her resurgence.
The album was written in the middle of isolation, early during the pandemic, and self-doubt kept invading her mind. It led her to not only deal with the following steps of what adulting means but also to expand her sound exploration. She would always go back and try to push even further to polish her craft.
The passing of two significant people in her life — a very good friend that was like a sibling to her and also one of her most important influences, Klaus Schulze — was completely devastating for her but instead of stopping her, it rather allowed her to close the album cycle. In the same measure that she couldn’t understand death, she also understood that she needed to let go of what she can’t control. Resurgence would become the perfect incarnation of what her life is in the moment she will release it.
A musical chaos where anger, doubt, and let go walk hand-in-hand.
