SEF LEMELIN | NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR THE SONG VARIATION NOW AVAILABLE

Sef Lemelin is following up with a new music video for the song Variation after his album Modulation spent 4 consecutive weeks at #1 of the Top Sales of PalmaresADISQ for francophone albums. The album release was supported by his partners Orange Amps and Death By Audio, peaked at #11 of the Daily iTunes charts in Canada and according to the FYI Music News, the LP reached #8 of the most vinyl sales on the MRC Data’s 2021 Mid-Year Canada Report with 2000 sales, just as many as the Foo Fighters and Billie Eilish.

Variation offers 2m36s of discomfort through sounds with scratchy guitar noises and an intense buildup. Sef mentions: “There are so many elements in this song, so many different sounds that create this instability, this tension, this feeling of being overwhelmed… There’s nowhere to go, it’s hard to breathe and there’s no relief until the guitar we hear in the end. It’s a short moment but a pivotal one for me because of the way it migrates.”

The music video visually soaks you up in Sef’s musical instability and tension, as the production provides a deep understanding of how connected he is with his music. Recorded and filmed in a live environment, the music video also shows how his guitar, pedals, synthesizer, and semi-modular system combine to make one instrument. This unicity is what holds everything together until the final moment of let go.
